We attended church at Fairview Baptist where we had been parking while in Columbus, MS. Pastor Breck talked about Jonah and how he was a “Messy Messenger.” Occasionally it is easy for us to feel like we are not good enough to do what we are doing. Why should anybody listen to us about families? We are certainly not perfect. We don’t have it all figured out. Our kids are not always angels. And we are definitely not the poster parents in every single moment. His sermon reminded us that it’s ok. We are just willing, and that is exactly all God needs. The pastor said that as much as the Ninevites needed Jonah, Jonah needed the Ninevites. He needed to learn the depths of God’s GRACE!
God knew that we would need this for our own family. Setting out on the road to travel the country to share our message is about helping the families of the US, but what we are doing is helping our own family be what we feel God has called all families to be, WHOLE and HEALTHY and serving God TOGETHER. This is making us better people. We are learning lessons that we never would have at home in our, what the fulltime RVers call, Stick and Bricks. We are learning to take everything that happens and completely trust God: for our safety, for our finances, and for our next step along the way.
Every chance we get, we stop at churches to meet the pastor and share what BecauseFamily is all about, but right now we don’t have a lot of ministry dates set up. This can be discouraging, but we are going to take this time that we are not as busy sharing in churches and seminars to make sure our family is strong and healthy to get through everything that He wants us to accomplish through our ministry. We are enjoying this time to strengthen our family and be an example in our everyday lives to families everywhere that we encounter in our travels and through sharing on the internet.
We are so grateful to everyone who is praying for us, partnering (#2764330) with us financially, and following our journey to strengthen families for God!
